NeXtworking: Cybersecurity & Fraud Prevention

On September 9, Eleccion hosted another NeXtworking™ event at Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) in Herndon, bringing together professionals from across our network for an evening of learning, connection, and community impact.

The event featured an engaging and highly interactive discussion focused on cybersecurity awareness. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in conversations about phishing, social engineering, malware, account takeovers, and the importance of multi-factor authentication. Our speakers brought the topics to life with real-world examples of scams in action, along with practical resources and prevention methods that attendees can use to better protect themselves, their families, and their organizations.

NWFCU educating on different scams you could encounter

The discussion was especially valuable because of the interaction among those in attendance. Participants shared experiences, asked questions, and discussed how these types of scams are showing up in real life. The result was an informative and engaging conversation that went beyond simply identifying cybersecurity threats to providing practical ways to recognize and prevent them.

The event also marked the close of Eleccion’s community partnership with NWFCU to support the NWFCU Foundation’s School Essentials Program, Step Into Success. Through the campaign, Eleccion and our NeXtworking community came together to help provide new athletic shoes and socks to children in need as they headed back to school.

Visiting Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation

As part of our visit to NWFCU, attendees had the opportunity to tour the NWFCU Foundation space and learn more about the Foundation’s mission and the work they do to support the local community. We also got to see the impact of our campaign firsthand, learning how many pairs of shoes our fundraising efforts were able to provide to students at Dranesville Elementary, the school selected to benefit from our campaign.

For Eleccion, the partnership was a great example of what NeXtworking is all about: bringing people together to learn, build meaningful connections, and make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.

We extend our sincere thanks to NWFCU for hosting us, to our speakers for sharing their expertise and practical resources, and to everyone who attended, contributed to the discussion, and supported the Step Into Success campaign. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this partnership a success and proud of the difference we were able to make together.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and seeing you at a future NeXtworking event.
